CoHive and GK-Plug and Play Indonesia have joined forces to establish a platform that supports the growth of startups in Indonesia through a flagship event called 'GK-PnP X CoHive Speed Dating'. This event is held on March 14th, 2019 at Co-Hive D-Lab, Jl. Riau No. 1, Central Jakarta. There are 40 startups as well as 17 local and international venture capitals signed up for this speed dating event.
The speed dating aims to facilitate digital startups under the tutelage of GK-Plug and Play Indonesia and CoHive to meet with investors or VCs (Venture Capitals) to pitch their business concepts for funding opportunities. On the other hand, this event also provides a chance for investors to interact and connect with quality startups, which eventually leads them to invest in companies that match their interests.
The Head of Corporate Communications of CoHive, Kartika Octaviana, mentioned that “GK-PnP X CoHive Speed Dating” was specifically designed to be more effective than other networking events. “We curated the startups beforehand based on several indicators, such as the funding needs, the business models, the technology and products they offer. This pre-matchmaking process was done to make sure that those startups meet the expectation of the investors,” explained Kartika.
As Indonesia's largest coworking space operator with up to 8,000 members from 800 companies, CoHive's focus is not only to provide the members with comfortable office facilities but also to provide community activities that can develop the startup ecosystem. It is, in fact, the main reason for GK-Plug and Play Indonesia to collaborate with CoHive in organizing this speed-dating event.
'CoHive is one of the largest ecosystem builders in Indonesia. Hence, we expect that through this collaboration we will be able to bring greater impacts for the startup community. We are hoping to hold this event consistently and regularly,' said Maria Sutanto, GK-Plug and Play Indonesia Marketing and Community Manager.
“GK-PnP X CoHive Speed Dating” is held in two sessions, the first one is from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and the second one is from 2 to 4 p.m. This event is exclusive for members of CoHive and GK-Plug and Play Indonesia. However, other non-member startups who want to connect with investors can participate in the networking session from 12 to 2 p.m.
This event aspires to provide solutions for the common challenge faced by startups, which is the difficult access to funds and mentorship. By providing this platform, the startup ecosystem is expected to flourish, thus boosting the growth of Indonesia’s digital economy.
